For anyone also thinking about getting a similar setup: The orange handle is only in the way of the original bar lever, not the upgrade three-spoke lever that Andreas shows. For a drill, I am using one from Metabo because it has the speed dial on top of the machine, as opposed to being integrated into the trigger.
Thanks for this tip - I hadn’t thought of this. You’re right, with the new wheel I could use the handle which is much easier to tighten than the star knob.
I would choose the Bosch GSB 21-2 RCT drill for the press. It has the same nice speed wheel on the top (900-3000 rpm) instead of integrated in the switch from this 19-2 and with 1300 Watt more than powerful enough for everything. So If you are in the blue camp...there are also similar solutions.

Hi Andreas, Thank you so much for your review. Thanks to it I ordered my wabeco stand, received it some weeks ago from Germany and now I'm working and very happy with it. Greetings from California!
Halo Andreas! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with your drill press setup. For the beginning to intermediate woodworking enthusiasts, this tool has many advantages for a wide range of projects. One big advantage, it seems, is the depth it distance between the support post and drill bit. Please keep up the videos.
Very cool setup Andreas. I can already think of a couple of projects this would be perfect for. You could alway mount an outlet with an on/off switch behind it or mount a power strip on the side or bottom of the cabinet to the right of your drill press. Or make an NVR or Magnetic power switch which kills power on start up if the power goes out.

Hello Andreas! In my opinion, this is the best choice for an average budget ! I've spent 170 euro instead of 300 euro for a Bosch PBD 40(country of origin: Romania). Is not the same thing, but it`s ok ;-) Good choice! Congrats!!! ;-)
It looks well made for a relatively low-cost and portable unit. If I were you, I would tie or clamp on the drill's switch to the On position, and use a footswitch to start/stop the drill.
That is one cool setup, Andreas! Perfect would look out of place in my shop anyway. I had not seen something like this before - all those that use a drill tend to be more flimsy. I think this might be a reason for me to look into upgrading my old drill press. Then again, after over 15 years, I think it has paid off the 99 € I paid for it at the discounter... Thanks for sharing!
Andreas, for your drill press, is there such an item available to you similar to this unit I have here in Canada. It is a foot switch which plugs into the power outlet, you then plug your drill into the back of that plug. With this device, you can lock your drill trigger ON and use the foot switch to turn ON or OFF the drill.
I have big problem with the housing having lateral rotation play. There are 2 eccentric set screws that can be adjusted to remove it. However after adjusting everything perfectly with no play, after some usage there will be play again. And the adjustment is a huge pain because after you tighten the nuts they will undo anything you did with just the eccentric set screws. And even then if all play is removed then the spring wont work properly. I am wondering if the column I have is defective or if you have the play too and just don't care about it?

Hello Andreas, Thank you for sharing your experience with this product. I was wondering if there is a way to adjust the angle of the drill in case this is not vertical with the surface of the material you are drilling? Regards,
Hi Christos. The clutch that holds the drill has very little play so that you can adjust the angle of the drill ever so slightly and then tighten the clutch.
I wish I had seen this before I bought a drill press.... The impractical switch can be fixed in the ON-position and the drill switched on with a NVR-switch on the bench front, not only more practical, but also safer. In this case I would choode a drill with speed selection on top
I find it to be precise enough. I can’t give you a margin of error and it is problably not as sturdy as a real drill press but I have never had any problems drilling precise holes.
Hi Paul, you can find a link to your local amazon here: kit.com/holzhandwerk_ak/my-drill-press-drill-mount - apart from that the manufacturer is called Wabeco: ak-u.de/wm
I don’t turn it down too much - fast speed makes for cleaner holes. It is somewhat loud (and high-pitched) but I usually wear hearing protection anyway.
I'm using a basic Metabo drill press stand. My shop is very small and I'm also just starting out. So like you I went for flexibility. And again like you, I'm running into the same niggles. I really don't like to use the allen wrench all the time for hight adjustment. Where did you get these nice orange handles?
Have a look here: www.wabeco-remscheid.de/catalog/category/view/s/drill-stands-and-accessories/id/104/?cat=246&limit=30 That’s the manufacturer. Depending on where you live they might be able to ship to your place or tell you a dealer in your area.

Hallo Andreas!
I paid about 160 EUR for the model with the 75 cm column and the 50 cm arm. Wabeco itself sell it for about that price at the moment (Christmas special): ak-u.de/v6 - here are their shipping costs: www.wabeco-remscheid.de/info-lieferung
It works here, just tested it. Anyway, here’s another try: www.wabeco-remscheid.de/drill-stands-and-accessories/drilling-stands-milling-stands/bf1243-column-750-mm-bracket-500-mm/bohrstaender-fraesstaender-bf1243.html
Great corded drill precision stand if you reside in the EU or England. If you live in the US though it’s near impossible. With COVID-19 I can’t even get to my bank to assist me in making the transaction.
I do not agree that this is a less elegant solution that is not perfect in it's handling.. And also it is not just an affordable solution. I have just sold my Contimac drill press which I found less than perfect. Handling of the Wabeco is just as difficult or easy as any run of the mill drill press. Especially when you change out a few alan bolts with levers and knobs. Next most drill presses are belt driven. If you exert force the belt tends to slip. A regular drill with enough power - like your Bosch - won't do that. Also the capacity of an equally high drill press (75 cm in my case) is far less thant the capacity of the Wabeco. You can even fixate the Wabeco to a table with clamps and move the drill so you can put your workpeace on the ground.which will extend the hight by another 80 cm or so. Limitless possibilities. Also all drill presses lack the horizontal movement option. A set up like this is a good investment as most diy-ers already have a hamer drill with similar capacity to your Bosch. A Metabo in my case. Last but not least this set up is far more transportable than any decent drill press. Professionals can easily stick the Wabeco in their van and take it to the job site. Etc. etc. etc. So maybe less elegant (which is in the eye of the beholder) but faaaaar more versatile and cost effective if you already own a decent hamer drill..
Thanks Andreas. I like flexibility and I don't care about the looks! About the drill trigger, I'll just tighten it with steel band and plug the drill cord to a wall socket with an on/off button. My only concern is about the drill speed. I have an old and cheap B&D, not very flexible in usage and obviously it wouldn't be very smart to buy a new drill just to put it in a drill press. So, what about drilling in metal or other cases when a slower speed would be better? Installing a variable speed command would add to the cost and somehow defeat the whole idea of economy.
Hi Andreas I am planning to buy that drill press. I also have very simple solution for your drill switch problem, I have made one for myself, very easy to make and you can even control speed of your drill I can send you photo, let me know if you are interested. Thanks for the nice review, cheers. Best regards Eddie
@@holzhandwerk_ak Don't get me wrong. I am going to buy one. And it will be extra expensive for me, as they don't have any US distributors. And it will cost almost 100 Euros to ship! So, it will be almost 300 Euros for the unit, the Y and Z axis handles, and US shipping. And while I do have some drills, I don't really have any that is good for this application. I'm getting a Metabo which is about another 250 Euros. So, about 550 Euros total. Lots of drill presses can be bought for less. But, this will do things an average drill press can't.
could be good drilling sensbile tolereances. I want to see that how it work when under press. when you move head then i can see how is shake. Don't looking stabil. I don't know. Price/Perfomance is not make me happy what i see.
Maibe the hexagonal column ensures less movement during the movement of the drill, which at maximum extension of the horizontal arm could be relevant.
The ability to rotate the drill lost me. Now I want a third column. I want the depth stop plunge removed from the main column and a 100mm plunge added to a third column that has a lockable geared rotation at the drill end of the horizontal column. There is no point in having a depth stop plunge on the main column if the drill is at 45 degrees. However, it did me the service of convincing me to hold off on buying the Mafell drill stand while I hope for something better.
Wabeco are making this in china with very bad quality, I have D4000 Lathe that they could not repair in 5 years, after multiple part replacements they kept sending me same faulty parts. So if after 5 years company sends you faulty part what do this mean? Do the math yourself.
For anyone also thinking about getting a similar setup: The orange handle is only in the way of the original bar lever, not the upgrade three-spoke lever that Andreas shows.

Thanks for this tip - I hadn’t thought of this. You’re right, with the new wheel I could use the handle which is much easier to tighten than the star knob.
That is the reason why i will use a Makita HP2071J .... but also thought a long time about the Metabo SBEV 1000-2
Would you recommend the Makita HP2071J over the Bosch 19-2 RE drill? I need to buy a new drill and I need it to be powefull enough.
@@kayf8738 Another great advantage over regular drillpresses, where you have to change the belt for different speeds.

Hello from Italy. Hi Andreas, Is the column precise when drilling the wood or does the tip tend to slip? what is the margin of error?
I find it to be precise enough. I can’t give you a margin of error and it is problably not as sturdy as a real drill press but I have never had any problems drilling precise holes.
thanks a lot
Hi Andreas,
Where can I buy this?
Please give me more information about the drill stand manufacturers.
Thanks very much.
Paul
Hi Paul, you can find a link to your local amazon here: kit.com/holzhandwerk_ak/my-drill-press-drill-mount - apart from that the manufacturer is called Wabeco: ak-u.de/wm
Is this gen 3 or gen 3.5?
I don’t know.
So with that particular drill, I assume you turn the speed right down for general wood working? (5 to 10mm holes) ... is it still very loud?
I don’t turn it down too much - fast speed makes for cleaner holes. It is somewhat loud (and high-pitched) but I usually wear hearing protection anyway.
I'm using a basic Metabo drill press stand. My shop is very small and I'm also just starting out. So like you I went for flexibility.
And again like you, I'm running into the same niggles. I really don't like to use the allen wrench all the time for hight adjustment.
Where did you get these nice orange handles?
I found them on eBay. In German they’re called „Klemmhebel“ (clutching lever, clamping lever).
I’m trying to buy this but I can’t find it on amazon???
Have a look here: www.wabeco-remscheid.de/catalog/category/view/s/drill-stands-and-accessories/id/104/?cat=246&limit=30 That’s the manufacturer. Depending on where you live they might be able to ship to your place or tell you a dealer in your area.
Im in the USA they won’t ship it to the United States smh
Sorry to hear it.
@@lanenunez8225 On their website it says: "There are some countries we do not supply among others AU and USA. For these countries, we are happy to forward your request to our representative or we will give you the address of our representation." Sounds like it shouldn't be a problem to have one delivered to the US.
The only other thing that would be nice with this press is if the column tilted also. I would love to have one of these in Canada!
Hallo Andreas!
Wow it's a good drill , if you can make one for me how much will cost me thanks for your video and your time. Greetings from Arlington, Texas!
I didn’t make it myself. It's by German manufacturer Wabeco, details here: kit.com/holzhandwerk_ak/my-drill-press-drill-mount
Here's a working link:

Gerne. Danke für Dein Feedback.
One important thing is to use a drill with adjustable speed regulation - sometimes you wanna drill *slow* .
Yes. Correct.
Lieber Andreas!
Would you recommend the Makita HP2071J over the Bosch 19-2 RE drill? I need to buy a new drill and I need it to be powefull enough.
What did you pay for it Andi? Amazon.de has so many variants.
I paid about 160 EUR for the model with the 75 cm column and the 50 cm arm. Wabeco itself sell it for about that price at the moment (Christmas special): ak-u.de/v6 - here are their shipping costs: www.wabeco-remscheid.de/info-lieferung
Andreas Kalt Thanks Andi, the first link doesn‘t work however. No probs, can find it myself :-)
It works here, just tested it. Anyway, here’s another try: www.wabeco-remscheid.de/drill-stands-and-accessories/drilling-stands-milling-stands/bf1243-column-750-mm-bracket-500-mm/bohrstaender-fraesstaender-bf1243.html
Andreas Kalt Still doesn‘t work. Don‘t worry, probably has something to do with my iPad....
Probably. The first one is Short enough that you can type it yourself. That should work.
Moin.
👍👍👍Cool.
Thank you!
Great corded drill precision stand if you reside in the EU or England. If you live in the US though it’s near impossible. With COVID-19 I can’t even get to my bank to assist me in making the transaction.
All the best to you Robert! Stay safe!
Thank you very much for the professional review. I was just wondering about the amount of flex that you have to deal with in this setup, any thoughts?
There is not much flex at all. All components are very sturdy and can be tightened into position if needed so that they don’t give.
Thanks for your feedback!
My drill has a wheel and to control the speed. I gather your drill doesn’t have that? In this case I suppose you have to go with single speed
Hi Andreas
I am planning to buy that drill press. I also have very simple solution for your drill switch problem, I have made one for myself, very easy to make and you can even control speed of your drill I can send you photo, let me know if you are interested. Thanks for the nice review, cheers.
Best regards
Eddie
Hi Eddie, sure - send that photo along. You’ll find my contact address on the channel info page or contact me via Instagram (@holzhandwerk_ak)

Thank you.
Well, it is flexible. But it’s not really that cheap. You keep saying how affordable it is, but it is more expensive than a lot of drill presses.
Of course, it depends on the quality of the drill press. Also, I was assuming that you already own the drill.
Good basic drill presses are cheap .I only paid 199 dollars for my 14 inch. Works great for both wood and metal and one of my most used tools.
could be good drilling sensbile tolereances.
Habe auch etwas dazu gebaut: ruclips.net/video/zNXS_CaWhOs/видео.html
Wabeco are making this in china with very bad quality, I have D4000 Lathe that they could not repair in 5 years, after multiple part replacements they kept sending me same faulty parts. So if after 5 years company sends you faulty part what do this mean? Do the math yourself.
Don’t know about today’s models but mine is good quality.
@@holzhandwerk_ak I bought mine in a little more then 5 years ago, and even now same faulty parts.
Bitte!!
You might ask the manufacturer for options: www.wabeco-remscheid.de/contact
